Facilities at Watford House
Rooms
The home has 35 rooms in total including 23 en-suite single rooms, 5 en-suite double rooms and a further 7 single rooms containing wash basins and within easy access to toilet facilities. All rooms have nurse call alarms.
Lounges
There are five comfortably furnished lounges in the home and

3 dining rooms. Bathrooms and toilet facilities are situated throughout the home in convenient and accessible areas.
Access
The home has 3 passenger lifts and one small chair lift allowing residents to access all areas.
Chiropody

A chiropodist visits the home every 6 weeks to ensure that should they wish the residents can elect to have their feet taken care of. This is not a service included in the room price but is charged to the residents at a very reasonable rate. (£10 as of Nov 2011)
Hairdressing
A dedicated hairdresser visits the home twice a week and also as required offering a wide range of hair dressing services. The home has a separate room which acts as a salon with

hairdressing facilities.

Watford House has a wireless internet system throughout the care home available for use by the residents. The home has a large ergonomic 23" screen workstation offering internet access and skype calling for the residents. Residents all have their individual email addresses where families and friends can send in photos and videos as well as emails.
For less mobile residents two laptops are available which are mounted on mobile adjustable carts, these can be wheeled around and are fully wireless, this ensures that the system is available to all.
The staff are of course on hand to help residents with the internet should they wish to use it.
Activities
The home employs a part time activity organiser and an outside activity contractor (WYSACTIVITIES) who both engage the residents in many different ways including simple conversation, Nintendo Wii, Cinema/DVD's, Bingo, flower arranging, arts and crafts, gardening, board games, chess, draughts, dementia resources and more.
The home also employs a music and movement specialist who visits the home once a week to carry out physiotherapy excercises with all the residents.
Entertainers regularly visit the Home, these include singers, musicians, and drama companies.
During the Spring and Summer months residents are encouraged to spend time outside to enjoy our gardens. These are maintained by our dedicated gardener.
The home arranges coffee mornings to discuss any aspects of the care home with Families and residents.
The activity organiser, Amanda, arranges to take residents out to the shops, garden centre etc.. should they request this.
