Hi Fred and all staff
Jen and I would like to thank all of you at Watford House for looking after Joan so well over the four years she was with you.
At the start of her stay she was very unsettled, especially when you think that she had lived on her own for over 25 years and had freedom to do exactly what she wanted. I'm sure you know that she would play us up having thought that it was our fault that she had to come and stay with you and not because she couldn't manage on her own. I'm sure that at the start of her stay you all also suffered some of her stubbornness.
However, as time went on we noted that she mellowed although at times she did have her moments. I hope these didn't last very long and left you all with smiles on your faces
She used very much used to like to be taken for a 'Polo run' in the car in the country in whatever direction I used to go. Why 'Polo run' - because by the end of the run the three of us would have devoured a pack of polos!
I'm not sure where you obtain your staff from, but all of them have been kind and considerate to Joan and ourselves when we have visited and most of all cheerful and never negative. They are a credit to Watford House.
Again thanks to all of you for looking after Joan so well.
Dear Frederic
Thanks for your letter received today. Mum seems to have settled in well with you and we are extremely pleased with the care that she is receiving. I would like to particularly thank you for accepting her at such short notice last week. She looks better than she has for a long time. Let us hope we do not have any setbacks, but from what I have already seen of your staff I am sure that they can cope with most eventualities.
I have set up the standing order to meet her future payments but it would assist me if I could transfer the first payment to you electronically. I have internet access to Mum's account. One of her last idiosyncracies before joining you was to rip up all her unused cheques which have not been replaced yet. The funds will reach your account quicker than by cheque as they will be coming from another Barclays account. If this is not possible I will route the funds through my own account.
I look forward to receiving your reply.
I have passed Mum's e-mail address on to my brother who lives in Canada, it is an ideal way for him to keep in touch with Mum.
My landline phone number is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, I am not the best at always having my mobile on but am improving!!
Regards
Allan
